The days of calling room service for every little thing might be over. At least for the patrons of this New York hotel, The Plaza. Every room is equipped with iPad in this hotel and the iPad runs the hotel’s custom app which has quite a few features. All the services which are typically availed through a phone call or multiple one, can be availed with two swipes and two finger touches with an iPad. Want to order breakfast, no problem. Just swipe, choose and touch. Laundry? No problem. The app itself is impressive and gives a little boost to the excellent hardware that it runs on.
iPad has become the de facto standard for all things tablet. Motorola Xoom might be raring to go waiting in the wings, but iPad has just gone to many places. From doctors performing surgery and using iPad as one of the tools to schools giving children iPad for learning and now to room service replacement, use cases for iPad and inherently for a tablet are just growing.
