Samsung had a bad time this year with its Note 7 issues (multiple battery explosion) and suffering a loss of over $26 billion. Now, they have another problem to toe. A large number of S7 and S7 Edge owners are reporting that camera lens of the device is shattering without any impact and Samsung is refusing to cover these incidents under warranty.
Camera lens shattering problem has been the most searched problem on Google too.
Apparently, this issue has been noticed from a long time back when the device had launched. There are many complaints ongoing in Samsung’s community forum. Samsung has been insisting customers that the lens can only break under physical stress and will charge customers $70 to fix the lens itself. S7 and S7 Edge are high-end Android devices from Samsung and camera is much critical feature of any phone
While a logical explanation for this incident could be some kind of external stress or pressure on the glass, most of the users say the shattering occurs on the inner part of the lens and not the outer. In addition, many users who experience say that the device was in the protective case and had no drops.
Also, if this was a one-off incident, it could be understood, but multiple users are reporting the same incident and the lens breakage is of same kind, which clearly indicates that it is a manufacturing fault rather than it getting shattered due to external force.
A Seattle-based law firm, Keller Rohrback, is currently investigating the complaints and has sent out an appeal asking all affected Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge users to contact the firm to discuss the issue. Even if the users try to get the issue fixed, it will be quite a task as a recent analysis reportedly showed that the Galaxy S7 range is the most difficult to repair among major flagships this year.
