Fly Mobiles will bring in not one but four Android phones to India by October 2011. These four Android phones will be launched in the price range of Rs. 7000 – Rs. 10000. Fly Mobiles also has plans to launch India centric app store, probably the most intriguing news of the two.
Android phones
Fly Mobiles hasn’t made quite the waves like a Micromax or a Spice. Yet no one has launched four Android mobile phones in one shot. If Fly Mobiles pulls it off, then there would be some serious competition to Micromax, Spice and Videocon’s Android portfolio. Looking at the price range, Fly Mobiles must have done its research. 5K-10K range is the fast moving range in the mobile space and not many Android phones are available in this range. If Fly packs in enough features, we might have some winners in the four phones to be launched.
App store : Yet another app store?
The race for app stores is just heating up and everyone wants a piece of it. There are a little over 250K apps on Android market place alone. If people aren’t satisfied with this they can go to other app stores like Amaon’s, Getjar’s, YAAM etc… And there will be more curated app stores targeting either a country or a vertical. AppBazar is one such store which comes to my mind. What value does Fly’s app store add? What relationship will it have with the developers? These are the questions Fly should answer before jumping in.
