Beetel, Bharti Airtel’s telecom product arm, has announced the launch of an Android tablet – Beetel Magiq. Looks like the tablet is already on sale at retailer Sagar Telecom. Beetel Magiq costs Rs. 8900 and is 3G enabled. AndroidOS has dug this up and the looks and specifications are quickly pointing us towards Huawei Smakit S7 – the tablet with a stand.
Beetel Magiq is powered by 1GHz Qualcomm snapdragon processor, 800×480 resolution 7-inch screen, 2 megapixel camera, VGA front-facing camera, Android 2.2 (but why), 8 GB internal memory and a 2200 mAh battery. Magiq is 3G enabled.
The price tag of Rs. 8900 and the specs Beetel Magiq is providing, doesn’t match at all – in a good way though. With the exception of Android 2.2, this tablet is a steal. We have seen cheaper tablets like Wespro ePad, C2K tablet, Binatone Homesurf and Accord @Pad. But none of them match Beetel Magiq’s specifications.
I am not a big fan of re-branded gadgets being launched in India, but for Beetel Magiq, I might change that opinion.
Update : We just spoke to Sagar Telecom and the listing provided is a tentative price. Beetel hasn’t officially launched it yet and the price is what Sagar Telecom got from its distributor. Beetel Magiq will be launched in a week, which is when Sagar Telecom will start shipping.
