Ring the phone for chosen contacts with SemiSilent Android app

How many times has it happened that you left your phone in vibrate only to miss an all important call? With SemiSilent that will never happen. SemiSilent is an awesome Android app which will let the phone ring on selective incoming calls. The SemiSilent white list as it is called is a neat little list which you prepare by marking (white listing) people on, in the contact list.

SemiSilent is a neat Android app which does what it says and nothing more. The user interface is a no-nonsense interface with just two screens. One screen to let you pick the contacts you want to white list and the other screen is a settings screen which will let you set the ringer volume for the white list contacts. That’s it.

Opening the app will take you to the contact list with a checkbox next to each contact. For the contacts you want to hear a ring, check them on. Once you have run through your list turn on the SemiSilent button at the top and you are all set.

Only thing which has bothered me while using SemiSilent is browsing through the contact list. If you have a really long contact list browsing to the exact name is a real pain. The list isn’t searchable nor is it cataloged. I guess that’s the price you pay for getting the comforts of a really useful app. Since this is a one time only set-up or an infrequent one, this limitation shouldn’t bother much. The app is free which is a good enough incentive for you go and download the app.

A neat feature which is missing but would be nice to have on the app is to white list the contacts at a group level.

There is a paid version which is ad free and gives a neat button on the home screen to turn SemiSilent on or off. I’m happy with the free version.

Here’s a crazy idea : How about having a white list and black list in the same app? Wouldn’t that be cool? White List will be a Yes, Black List will be a No. Everybody else on the list will be a May Be or Never Mind. Or is that too much to ask?
