Android market place isn’t the greatest place to discover new apps. But Google is changing all that. It has recently added app compatibility. Now it has made one more subtle yet useful change. It has added app rating based on user ratings.
The app rating is similar to what we expect from any rating system. It lists down the number of users against each rating and calculates an average.
Android Market place is still missing the Similar apps feature. Rating by itself isn’t very useful. If there are similar apps and one app is rated highly over another app then that’s an information a user can use. Something which independent app discovery engines have achieved. Mobilewalla for example gives a score for each app and also lists down similar apps. Is that too much to ask from Android market? [TNW]
