Circling around your destination in search of parking space? Google has a solution for it now. Google has launched a parking difficulty icon in Google Maps that gives the user an idea about the parking place around the desired destination, allowing users to plan their trips. This feature uses historical parking data to calculate a parking difficult score that is shown of Maps direction. The option includes ‘Limited’, ‘Medium’ and ‘Easy’.
Unfortunately, it’s available only in few parts of US and in selected regions. Google announced this feature on their blog on Thursday. This feature is limited to Google Maps on Android. The parking availability is displayed with a small rounded ‘P’ icon to the bottom right next to travel time. This indicator turns Red when space availability is low and stay blue otherwise. Users can move in their direction to get the right parking space.
Look out for parking difficulty icons in the following areas across the U.S: San Francisco, Seattle, Miami, Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Minneapolis/St. Paul, New York City, Orlando, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Diego, St. Louis, Tampa, Washington, DC, Cleveland, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Houston, Phoenix, Portland, and Sacramento.
Google earlier this week had rolled two updates for iOS, it added Popular Times widget that shows real-time data of how crowded the place is. And for Android, it gave ability to add photo of restaurants and different place according to our location.
The company by giving all these updates is trying to make it easier for users to manage huge information that is collected from online activities across different platform.
India needs this updates in Maps soon. Most of our time and fuel would get saved if Google would help us to get parking space.
