There is no dearth of Android phones in India. Close to 60 phone models are launched till date and there are few winners. Huawei which announced its Android phones three months back, has set a release date for India. Blogdom is abuzz with a June 13 launch date. Better late than never. There are three phones – Ideos X5, Ideos X2 and Ideos Chat. The pricing on these three babies is appealing to even neglect them.
If you are curious on what the name IDEOS stands for, here’s for you :
IDEOS = ID – ‘inspiring industrial design’ + “e” ‘evolution’ of mobile internet’ + “OS” for ‘operating system’
That looks eerie, but everyone has their definition of creativity. Now that we got that out of our way, let’s get to the specs and pricing.
All the Ideos phones come with the Google goodness – Google Talk, Google maps, Youtube, Gmail and host of other services. Social networking apps and email is present.
All three Ideos phones can act as a mobile WiFi router which will allow up to eight devices to connect to the Ideos phone. WiFi 802.11n and 3G are on board.
Ideos X5
Ideos X5 runs a 800 MHz processor, 3.8 inch WVGA display, HSDPA, WiFi, GPS, 5 megapixel auto focus camera and 4GB on-board memory. X5 runs Android 2.2 OS. Ideos is developed in collaboration with Google and the OS upgrades are expected to be run smoothly.
Ideos X2
Ideos X2 has a 3.2 inch HVGA display and a 3.2 megapixel camera. It comes with an FM radio and runs Android 2.2 OS.
Ideos Chat
Ideos chat is a bar phone with a full QWERTY keyboard, dedicated smiley keys, 2.6 inch landscape display and a 3.2 megapixel camera. It runs Android 2.1 (why exactly?). Ideos chat clearly is a stab at Samsung Chat 322. There is a rage of QWERTY phones out there and Huawei the right product mix for its launch.
Pricing
- Ideos X5 costs Rs. 13000 as per TMI and Rs. 14999 as per AndroidOS.
- Ideos X2 costs Rs. 7000 as per TMI and Rs. 8999 as per AndroidOS
- Ideos Chat costs Rs. 6500 as per TMI and Rs. 8199 as per AndroidOS
There is a clear two thousand rupee difference on all three models. I am inclined to believe the prices on TMI. Ideos X2 at Rs. 7k and Ideos Chat at Rs. 6500 are some compelling options for someone looking to buy a Android powered phone.
At Rs. 6500 Ideos chat will beat Android A60 to become the cheapest Android phone available in India.
