Here’s the new anthem for MySpace : “I’m bringing sexy back, Yeah”. Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears old boyfriend and Cameron Diaz’s current boyfriend has a new designation : “I’m CEO too, bitch” Guess who’s getting the first copy of Timberlake’s new business card? Mark Zuckerberg. Ok, now I’m being incepted. Where’s my totem? Right now you can’t differentiate between movie and reality let alone differentiating between and dream world and the real world.
What are you blaming me for? Justin Timberlake the NSync dude is a potential CEO of sinking social network MySpace. If that’s not crazy what is? It’s like someone is manufacturing news these days. You never know what’s coming up next.
Justin Timberlake wants to turn MySpace in to a niche vertical and focus around music, artists and reaching out. You know the kind of thing which doesn’t make any sense to the rest of us. MySpace was on a downward spiral for quite a long time. News Corp has paid an exorbitant $580 for MySpace in 2005. Now it sold it for a paltry $35 million and Timberlake got a piece of it. Public was an anticipating a drama around MySpace, but what Timberlake has added is the much needed pizzazz. Just the thing needed to kick things off on a Friday. On a second thought, what Myspace really needs is Lady Gaga.
Facebook is receiving $70bn-$100 bn valuations and Google has just launched its Social network Google +. In the midst of this how relevant is MySpace. What kind of value does Timberlake really add? Something no body is quite sure of. Myspace can’t do any badly than it is doing already.
Justin Timberlake played the role of Facebook’s brief-CEO, Sean Parker in the movie Social Network. Sean Parker in real life was thrown out of Facebook mysteriously under drug possession charges. From that perspective, it looks like Justin Timberlake doesn’t really have a dog in this fight as the throw out happened to a character. Looks like Timberlake has taken that a little too seriously and bought a stake in Myspace.
I almost smell a sequel for Social Network and possibly Inception too.
Let me ask you a rhetorical question, Will Justin Timberlake bring the sexyback for Myspace? Would Lady Gaga join the board now?
