Sony has released a new series of laptops in its famous Vaio product line. Called as Sony Vaio YB Series, these laptops pack in some serious specs at a very competitive price. The laptop costs Rs. 26990 and comes in three trendy colors – pink, silver and green. Sony is a brand which is typically associated with quality and high prices. Looks like the quality has remained as is and the prices have dropped a notch.
Specifications
YB Series comes with AMD’s Vision technology which make high definition (HD) content playback very smooth. The screen is a 11.6 inch wide display with 1366 x 768 resolution. AMD E-350 1.6 GHz processor, ATI HD 3610 GPU, 4GB RAM (max) powers the YB Series. A 500 GB hard drive should meet all the media needs. It comes with 3 USB ports and an HDMI port. The battery life is a little low at 6 hours. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity are on-board. The laptops are available from 2nd Feb 2011.
With a weight of 1.46 kg, this laptop works as a laptop/netbook and not a desktop replacement – which usually come with some heavy baggage.
Isolation keyboard
Sony YB Series laptops are equipped with isolation keyboard. This is not your traditional keyboard where the space between keys is minimal. Isolation keyboard are also called as chiclet style or the island style keyboards. This style which was pioneered by Apple, keeps each key at a fair distance with other keys. A stainless steel base plate is placed just beneath the keys to ensure stuff doesn’t get into the hood. The isolation keyboard looks neat, minimalistic and futuristic too.
