The rumours have been rife for quite sometime for a cheaper iPhone variant targeting at emerging markets. Tentatively called iPhone 5C, Apple in its ongoing iPhone event has introduced the iPhone 5C for real.
The earlier leaked images suggested iPhone 5c to have a plastic based body albeit in multiple colors and the images from the live event clearly show a platicky look of the iPhone 5C
iPhone 5C still big on specifications
Despite indications that the iPhone 5C could be positioned as a lower price variant, the phone seems to draw most of its specifications and features from the iPhone 5.
The iPhone 5c will feature an Apple designed A6 chip, 4 inch retina display, a 8 megapixel rear camera and the iPhone 5C will have LTE support alongside Dual Band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity
Will iPhone 5C be cheap enough for the Indian market?
Till now, Apple has only discussed the contract based pricing. iPhone 5C 16 GB model is priced at $99 and the iPhone 5C 32 GB model is priced at $199 as part of a 3 year contract.
Apple has yet to announce the retail price for the iPhone 5C but if the specifications are anything to go by, I really doubt if the iPhone 5C pricing will bode well with the Indian markets
