Xobni’s Smartr Android app makes contact management Sexy, err Social

Remember Xobni? Yes the email plugin software which analyzes contacts and provides context for Outlook and Blackberry users. Now Xobni is coming to GMail and Android. Its new app called Smartr. There is a similar service already available for GMail called Rapportive. What Xobni has realized is the importance of being mobile and being on the most popular mobile platform.

How it works?

Smartr once installed on your Android phone will analyze your phone data(contacts), emails, and online networks (Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn) and build profile information for all the contacts you ever interacted with. This profile information will include the latest contact information, social updates and comments. It will also have your recent interactions with that contact section.

Smartr puts the onus on search and removes the pressure of cataloging people. Based on your communications Smartr brings up the top 5 contacts much like your Priority Inbox on Gmail. In addition, it allows searching on job title or business title. Smartr also makes finding friends of friends easy. You know for cases where you met someone through someone but forgot the name of the first someone but remember the second someone. Now that’s something.

Contact management or Productivity

Smartr is challenging the traditional contact management systems. With all too powerful smartphones and people going social for almost anything, it is highly unlikely for someone to remember everything. Forgetfulness in the traditional contact management system is a sin and costs quite a bit of time. Smartr is making it easy to forget.

Smartr looks part contact management system but a full productivity tool. A must for someone with an address book of 500 or more contacts.
