Once you buy a smartphone, a touch screen one especially, there will be a lot of pressure on you to keep the phone new and shiny. People use all kinds of screen protectors and pouches to keep the phone ‘safe’. I personally know of people who use the screen protector sheet that comes along with the phone. You can see that with new cars too. Either they want to tell everybody that their car or phone is new or they care too much about the product. Whatever it is, it isn’t worth it.
A smartphone how much ever well protected, isn’t worth a damn, when it is time to upgrade. Mobile phones are notorious for price drops and with ever falling prices and new products being launched every other day, there is hardly a market for second hand phones. The sooner you realize this the more you enjoy your current phone.
The best care you can give to your smartphone is no care at all. I’m not saying you should drop it from your balcony or drop it into a swimming pool, but just don’t go overboard with it. I couldn’t resist the spiel. Here’s the real deal :
Whatever phone you are carrying right now, 2 years down the line it’s garbage. If you sweated a lot to ‘protect’ it, then it would be min-condition garbage. The common denominator is garbage.
