If Swarovski studded Micromax Bling or Bling 2 just doesn’t cut it for you, then we have Nokia Orio – a 18 carat gold plated phone with a sapphire crystal. Nokia Orio is a premium Nokia phone being released in select markets by Nokia. It will incorporate 18-cart gold plating, a sapphire crystal and leather from Scotland’s finest Caledonian herds.
I am not much of gold or a leather person to appreciate the beauty of Nokia Orio. But if you are then you know what they are talking about. In addition to the flashy finish, Orio has some phone features too. It is a Symbian smartphone.
Nokia Orio will be running Symbian Anna. It sports a 3.5 inch AMOLED display, 8 megapixel camera, 3G, 720p video recording and all the good stuff. This is probably the first premium phone with smartphone features. Phones of this cadre don’t carry the smartphone features.
Interesting thing to note is Nokia already has a luxury brand called Vertu. I have even blogged about the ridiculous price a feature phone like Vertu carries. Then I was told about the platinum stuff on these Vertu phones. When Nokia has a luxury brand, why is it releasing this premium phone under Nokia brand?
The phone isn’t available in India. But if you know of someone in Middle East or Russia then you might stand a chance. China and Europe will get the phone in Q3. The phone costs EUR 800. Not much of a cost if you think about it. And Nokia should rethink its decision about not launching this in India. I can see quite a few folks who would be interested in this kind of phones. Real estate professionals and our politicians would love to have one of these.
If you are planning to gift a mobile to Bappi Lahiri, then you don’t have to look beyond Nokia Orio.
