iBall has entered the mobile segment with some stunning new phones. iBall’s waterproof phone called Floater, lives up to its promise. It remains water proof not just with few sprinkling drops but with a full bucket of water. I have never seen a phone like that. In a similar way iBall has launched a Senior citizen phone, which we have reviewed is an excellent phone which helps its target audience.
iBall’s waterproof phone, feels very sturdy and has a great build quality. The keypad is designed very well without any gaps to facilitate the waterproofness. Same goes for the design of the rest of the body. There is only one external interface which is used to plug-in the earphones and charger. The compartment which accommodates battery and SIM card is tightly gripped with a sturdy design, so as not to allow any water or dust.
iBall Floater is a feature phone with three additional features. It has a torch light, FM radio and dual language support for messaging. The languages supported or Hindi and English. iBall Floater also is waterproof, dust proof and drop proof. We have tested the waterproof character of the phone and Floater comes out trumps. Dust proof characteristic is something which can be tested over time and from the looks and design of the phone we can take the iBall’s word for it. Drop proof : All phones are drop proof to some extent. With a sturdy design of Floater, it sure looks drop proof. Floater is not theft proof so you better guard this phone very carefully.
To test the water proof characteristic of the phone, we have dropped the phone in a bucket of water. The phone immediately floats to the surface and the screen is still lit. We tried to operate the phone in the water and it works just as fine. Once we took the phone out of water and wiped it out, it looks brand new. Great phone for someone who has venture outdoors all the time. Don’t have to worry about wiping the screen for dust or water. Highly recommended for Indian conditions.
Here are the videos of the phone outside the bucked and inside the bucket :
