Last week, I bought 40” Samsung ES5600 Smart Slim LED TV to replace my 32” model. Over the course of previous 4-5 weeks, I did quite a bit of research before finalizing to buy this one.
For me, there were 2 most important aspects which I was looking at – First, was the obviously the color reproduction and picture quality. Second – How well it was integrated with Internet and the apps it had.
For the first point, I found Samsung Smart TV to be equal to Sony TVs in same price range, but was ahead due to its 100 hz refresh rate which made fast moving action scenes really great to watch. On the second point, there was really no challenge – Samsung’s Smart Hub won by a mile. It has everything I wanted on an internet ready television.
While doing my research I found that there were not too many people talking about this TV. Neither did I see any good videos online – I had to visit the showrooms to check out different models.
For benefit of others, who are also looking to buy new LED TV or Smart TV, I have created 3 Videos that talk about various aspects of Samsung ES5600 Smart TV in detail.
Unfortunately, in videos that I have created, the colors have not come out properly, but the viewers will get a fair idea about the TV.

Hi Arun,
Thanks! for sharing the videos. Quite helpful in making a decision.
Just had a query regarding keyboard. Can one connect an external wireless keyboard like Logiteck k400 to this Samsung ES5600 model?
If you could demo the browsing / typing experience that would be great.
Thanks! a lot
Raj

Dear Raj,
Yes, you can connect wireless keyboard and most of them are compatible as long as they work on bluetooth, they should be fine… I will try and give an update on browsing experience in a video… But one thing is for sure, you will need a keyboard and mouse, without which it is difficult to browse…and if you have those…it is a breeze…
Raj
Dear Arun,
Thanks! a lot for your response.
Looking forward to your browsing experience video. If you could also demo PIP feature then that would be great!!

@raj, Browsing experience has been great. I use a small remote bluetooth keyboard which does the job well for me… If you have a good internet connection – you can definitely watch multimedia content beautifully..
Raj

Dear Velan,
Yes it is the same model that you have linked to – UA40ES5600R. However, there is no difference between the global model ES5600 and this one….

Dear Arun,
It was pleasure watching your uploaded videos. I was looking all over for such a review and finally I got to see your post.
I had few queries. Whats the maximum HDD capacity does it support via USB? Can it play a 2 TB HDD? Does it have feature like slideshow with background music and transition effects?
Also can I change the themes, fon size, wall paper?
Thanks! a ton.

Hi Arun, Thanks for the videos. May I know the speed of your Internet connection used in these videos, so that we can have a fair idea of what to expect from playing online media content?
timelife
Sridhar – You need a fast connection. I would say minimum speed you should be having is 1 mbps connection. I have not had time to create rest of the videos… but they should soon follow…

Can any wireless keyboard be connected to this TV?

Hi Arun,
Thanks for the review. I bought es5600 last week.
I would like to know where did u buy the swivel tv wall mount bracket and how much did u pay for it?
Thanks,
Ra

Hey Ra – Glad to know you bought ES5600 – I hope you are happy with it. I am in Pune, and I asked Samsung for the swivel one, because I know how frequently I need to play around with those ports on the back…. But they had only a fixed one. So, I got one from the local market here in Pune. It cost me around Rs. 1800. They are pretty common, and you should get it in your city as well..
