Windows’ powered Nokia Lumia 800 in India for Rs. 29000

Nokia came out of its self imposed hibernation to launch its first Windows powered smartphone. Though Nokia continues to release phones under Symbian OS, Nokia bets big on Windows. Nokia Lumia 800 is a product of Nokia’s solid hardware and Microsoft’s earnest entry to the mobile OS world.

Stylish, solid and stunning are the words which come first in my mind on looking at the device. Nokia N9 is the design innovation behind Nokia Lumia 800’s  shiny  matte looks which is made of polycarbonate plastic and a huge 3.7 inches curved crooning gorilla glass screen which is capacitive with multi touch and super AMOLED display. The device is smooth on the corners and has a good grip which makes it a pleasure to hold. 

There are volume keys, screen lock key and a dedicated camera button on the right hand side of the phone. There is a memory card slot, USB charging slot at the head of the handset which is protected by a flimsy cover and a 3.5mm stereo jack for earphones. The back hand side of the device there is an embedded 8mp camera with high quality carl zesis lens and a double LED Flash to capture super clear pictures and recording videos in HD.

Talking about its OS, The device runs on 7.5 windows Mango. It has a single core 1.4GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor with 16GB of internal flash memory and a good battery life with a standby of 65 hours. The user interface is quite smooth and vivid. The display has several live tiles which are easy to customize with a soft keys located at the bottom of the device. The live tiles give a unique feel to the system unlike other competing soft wares available in the market.

The other important features in the device is the all new Nokia Drive and Maps, which can be viewed in 2D and 3D style which are preloaded with several maps and location information. Browsing through applications and changing between different tasks is easy and effortless. There is also a dedicated windows market for downloading apps, games, maps, music and pod casts besides other Nokia apps.
