Nokia is going through a major overhaul. After partnering with Microsoft for WP7 and outsourcing Symbian development to Accenture, it is ditching Ovi brand. Now all the Ovi branding would be transition to Nokia. Ovi will no longer be available as a brand on mobile and on the web. The user experience, the services everything would remain the same. The services will use the high value Nokia brand instead of Ovi brand. And it makes sense.
The consumer transition should be a smooth and seamless one, likely to begin in July this year with the intention of it being completed by the end of 2012. It is likely that anybody buying a new Nokia device later this year will start to see the new branding on services included within, however anybody already owning a Nokia phone will see this new rebranding through future software updates.
I never go Ovi anyway. What’s next from Nokia?
