MINT POD an in-flight interactive entertainment device is launched by Mumbai based IP Avenue. Mint POD – My interactive Nano TV is a device with 4.3 inch screen and is loaded with 30 hours of content. Enough to last four to five back to back trips in India. Mint Pod is available on all GoAir flights for a fee.
The content that is loaded in the Mint pod ranges from bollywood movies, laughter challenges, cartoons, travel shows and more content to cater to men, women and children. IP Avenue has tied up with EROS entertainment for Bollywood movies.
The hardware of Mint POD is 160MHZ ARM and DSP Processor, 128MByte SDRAM, 1 GB flash memory, action replay up to 90 seconds from any channels and 4.3 inch clear screen. There are 8 dedicated channel keys and play pause buttons on the device.
Mint POD seemed like a nice product until we look at the side view. From the side view, Mint POD looks like a transistor from the 1990’s. The design isn’t all that different. Instead of having big black front panel with holes on it, Mint POD has a 4.3 inch screen. Not the most breathtaking design. After looking at thinner and lighter tablets, Mint POD will be looked at as an ancient device. But it’s the functionality that matters. We don’t have a way to judge on how good Mint Pod is until we board on one of those GoAir flights.
The fact that you have to pay a nominal fee to get an ugly looking entertainment device just beats me.
Not as exciting as iPad replacing in-flight manuals but, a newsworthy gadget.
