If you ask me, phablets are as ugly and uninteresting as is the alternative name of large screen smartphone (5-6.9 inches). Also, I am not alone in thinking that in principle phablets are not really faboulous what with low utility factor and mobility. However, Indians at large seem to be in love with phablets. Don’t believe me! Look no further than the latest report by IDC on Indian smartphone market where phablets now account for 30% of the smartphone market in India
The fast growing adoption of phablets in India made me think why Indians love phablets so much.
Here are some potential reasons why Indians love phablets
Large Screen= Increased Flauntability Factor
Call me a stereotype, but we Indians love to flaunt and more so when it comes to gadgets. The large screen lends itself well to be noticed allowing the phablet owner to flaunt it. I wish I had a scientific rationale to justify this logic but based on my personal experience, I have seen a lot of people carry their phablets in hand instead of putting it in their pockets like most phone owners would.
Tablet + Phone= 2 for the price of 1
A phablet in essence is a tablet and a smartphone bundled into one or atleast that’s where the name ‘phablet’ derives from. It is another matter that a phablet does not do a good job at being either.
We Indians love ourselves a deal, don’t we! So, if we can buy a tablet and a smartphone for the price of say a smartphone alone that’s one sweet deal, ain’t it.
Do you think these are reasons enough to explain why phablets are growing popular in the Indian market? If you have more logical reasons, please share with us via comments

LOL, funny article, i totally agree with you, one more thing why they like it is because they need to show they have a lot of dough with them ! I saw my rich but illiterate neighbour get one to make him look awesome 😛
