G’Five, one of the last few brands without a tablet, will be launching a low-cost Windows 8 powered tablet in India. G’Five will also launch an Android tablet. The tablets will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset and will come in 2 sizes – 7 inch and 10 inch. All the tablets will be 3G and WiFi enabled.
G’Five’s windows tablet, when launched, will not be the first windows tablet though. MSI has already launched its rather expensive MSI Windpad at the start of 2011.
G’Five is taking something from Samsung’s book. Samsung has recently launched 3 phones – 1 powered by Android, 1 powered by Windows and 1 powered by Bada. G’Five is extending that logic to tablets.
India’s tablet market is in a pre-natal stage and no body really knows what sticks. An estimated 17000 tablets are being sold everyday and that’s a very small number by any standards.
A low cost Windows tablet might stick.
