Classics and 80 of them in one single place : That’s what Classic Books iPad app promises and delivers. Best part is the app is free and so are the books. If you have heard about books like – 1984, Anna Karenina, A tale of two cities, Dracula and David Copperfield – but never got around to read them, then this is your chance.Yes, there’s The Musketeers too in the list. It can’t get any simpler than this.
The same can probably be accomplished with a Kindle app as these classic books have outlived their copyright age and are now freely available in various formats. On a Kindle app you will spend close to 3 hours to amass this specific collection and you might not probably get all the 80 books.
Ulysses, Women in Love, Vanity Fair, Utopia, Within a Budding Grove, The Time Machine, The Prince, The Odyssey, The Idiot, The Iliad, The Great Gatsby, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Oliver Twist, Kidnapped, Les Miserables, Moby Dick and many others are in the list. These are the books which will figure in any must read books list.
The only problem with the app : It doesn’t recommend which book you should read first. You are on your own for that.
What you might be missing is the Kindle’s annotation and highlighting features which can later be referenced. That’s a small price to pay and maybe you can kick it to old school with pen and paper.
I have never been so excited about an app which is so simple but which has the potential to have profound impact. This is the app I was looking for. Must read, must download.
