Moneycontrol has an iPhone app. iPhone apps of popular Indian sites are few and far in between. Which only reflects the number of iPhones sold in India. Moneycontrol’s iPhone apps bridges the gap for getting up to date stock news and getting the health of indices in one place.
Hitting on any of the indices brings up the stocks in that index with the latest market price and the movement (green or red). Now you don’t have to worry about what stocks are part of Sensex or the Midcap index. Just bring up the app. Along with the indices like Sensex and Nifty, it has market movers which are the top movers of the day.
My Stocks section can be configured through your moneycontrol ID and this, I assume, will provide access to your portfolio built on moneycontrol. The app has a Video feature which has two channels – CNBC TV18 and CNBC Awaaz. The app also ask for Push Notification of stock updates.
Moneycontrol iPhone app is slow in performance. The initial boot screen stays on for more than 10 seconds before you get to see the actual screen of stock indices. 10 seconds on a mobile phone feels like a lot of time. This is totally unnecessary and doesn’t meet the requirement of a mobile app. Hitting on any index also brings up the desired result after a lag of 5 or more seconds. Subsequent screens face the same lag.
A much needed app to keep in touch with India’s stock market pulse. But this app needs some serious speed tweaks. Putting this app on steroids by the developers wouldn’t hurt.
