Facebook’s IPO has given the much-needed break for Apple rumorists. Looks like the rumorists will be having an extended break but some of them just love their job too much. Anything related to Apple and the new iPhone can just be a rumor. Have you heard this : The new iPhone will be thinner than iPhone 4S. Or this : The new iPhone will be lighter than iPhone 4S.
Those kinds of rumors are dime a dozen. The really innovative rumors gun for the exact screen size, or the resolution of the screen. This would give the rumors more credibility. One such rumor which surfaced recently was the screen size : New iPhone will have a 3.95 inch screen. You know what? That’s highly believable.
Rumorists have flirted with a 4-inch screens and finally settled at 3.95 inch. This 3.95 inch screen rumor is believable for 2 reasons : First, Apple never go for a drastic hardware upgrade. Going from 3.5 inch screen to a 4.3 inch screen is a big leap of faith for Apple and would be tantamount to following Samsung.
Second, 3.95 inch is that psychological barrier which tells the consumer that it’s not exactly a 4-inch screen which might be difficult to hold. It’s just a little more than what you are already used to. It definitely is not as big and confused as a Samsung Galaxy Note. 3.95 inch screen is something new consumers and repeat customers can live with.
3.95 inch screen also follows the human evolution process where the hands aren’t getting any bigger to hold the phablets. But making it a little big wouldn’t really challenge but gives the humanity just enough time to adjust.
Of all the rumors I have heard about the iPhone, 3.95 inch screen makes the most sense. A mini-iPad with 7.85 inch screen? Well, I have my own reservations about the mini and I will believe it when I see it.
As for rumorists, thanks guys. I’m glad you guys are back.
