Karbonn Mobiles has launched their much awaited Android 4.0 based Smartphone dubbed ‘Smart A18‘.Boasting a big 4.3-inch IPS display, this new device has dual SIM features and supports GSM+GSM.
Although the retail price is Rs. 12,990, it is available at online stores like flipkart at a price of Rs. 9,790.
If we speak about the growth of the company, it launched its first Smartphone A1 in 2011. Till today, the company launched four Smartphones and all the four handsets played an active role in the arena. The company also launched a tablet in India which has been decently successful.
The Karbonn Smart A18 is packed with lots of features like – a capacitive touchscreen of 4.3 inches with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. It is powered by a 1GHz processor combined with 512MB of RAM. Other significant features of this device include a 5MP primary camera and 1.3MP secondary cameras, internal memory of 2.55GB and external memory that is expandable up to 32GB.This device also supports supports 3G, USB, WI-Fi and Bluetooth for connectivity
Other than the above said features, this device has plenty of pre-loaded apps that include – Google Currents, Facebook, Picasa, Gmail, Twitter, Google Talk, Google Search, Yahoo Messenger, WhatsApp, PayTm, Google Play and many others. With all the advanced features and specifications this device does not seem like a bad deal for an economical buy.

This is not the first device that is launched by a local OEM in this category and price. There are a couple of devices like – Micromax A100, Spice Stellar series phones.
With all these Indian brands launching similar smartphones at very similar price ranges, it is going to be tough war between them going ahead.
Infact, even the biggies like HTC, Samsung, Sony and LG need to start worrying because similar phones from their stable are priced close to Rs. 30k.
If you are looking to buy a Smartphone in India at this price, along with the smartphones listed above, it is recommended to have a look on iball’s Andi 5C also, that supports dual-SIM and has the features similar to Carbon Smart A18. Andi 5c is also available in India at a price of Rs 12,999.
Recently, Karbonn has also launched a Smart Tab Tablet based on Android Jelly Bean OS. Some of the previously launched Smartphones in A-series include – A5, A7 and A9.
According to recent rumors, the company is going to release a Jelly Bean based Smartphone by the end of this year.
