Samsung Mobiles is experiencing declining sales and the company is putting in its best efforts for recovering from this path. Actually, it was bound to happen. People have been complaining about the quality and cheap looks of Samsung smartphones since long, but the Samsung execs refused to listen to them. If a story published on SamMobile is to be believed, then you should know that Samsung is working on project codenamed- Project Zero.
This ‘Project Zero’ is all about redesigning the upcoming Samsung smartphone flagship from scratch. And as it looks like, the Samsung Galaxy S6 will be a premium looking metal body phone.
The Rumoured Hardware Specifications Of Samsung Galaxy S6:
QHD Display
The Galaxy S6 would sport a QHD (2560×1440 pixel) Super AMOLED display of an unknown size. We are expecting it to be somewhere between 5.1” to 5.5”.
Camera
The S6 might also feature the same Sony sensor (IMX240) as found in the Galaxy Note 4. The sources say that even they are sure of the camera sensor at the moment. Samsung might also plan to equip the Galaxy S6 with its own 16MP camera sensor (with OIS) as well. The front camera has received a major bump from 2MP in the Galaxy S5 to 5MP for the Galaxy S6. This increase in front camera pixel count is a result of growing selfie trend among the youth and the celebrities.
Internal Memory
It is also speculated that Samsung will scrap the 16 GB variant of its ‘Galaxy S’ flagship to make way for the 64 GB and 128 GB variants along with the regular 32 GB model. We also hope that Samsung will keep a micro SD expansion slot too. Not many would want a pay a premium for getting more internal storage, when high-speed micro SD cards are available for cheap.
Chipset: Exynos Vs Snapdragon
The Samsung Galaxy S6 will also come with two chipset variants as usual. One will run on a home-baked Exynos chip while the other will be powered up by a Snapdragon 810 quad-core 64-bit chip.
The Exynos 7420 octa-core 64-bit chip is expected to power the Galaxy S6.
The Exynos version of the S6 will also feature a Samsung made Exynos modem 333 (SS333) for replacing the Intel modems found in the all Exynos chips till date. The Snapdragon model of the Galaxy S6 will be equipped with a Broadcom modem (BCM4773) combining Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS on a single chip. This would be industry’s first modem with such an arrangement and will result in significant power-savings during navigation. From what it looks like, the Snapdragon chip packs an advanced modem for more power savings. Sure, the Exynos chip packing their own modem will help Samsung reduce its dependence on Intel, but I don’t see how it is beneficial to the consumers.
Samsung, let me remind you of the failure of the Galaxy S5’s Exynos variant in India.
I know that it’s too early to make such comments, but do you really want to use an Exynos chip? I don’t. This table shows how the Galaxy S6 has evolved from the Galaxy S5. And it is much of an improvement if Samsung decides to equip the S6 not only with a better camera but also with a bigger battery.
