It is CES 2015 and we are eagerly waiting for Samsung to showcase its upcoming flagship, the Galaxy S6. But while we wait for that, we have some new Galaxy devices like the full metal body Galaxy A3, and A5 and plastic-body Galaxy E5, and E7 to feast our eyes on. Well, not exactly ‘feasting’ but you get the drift.
The Galaxy ‘A’ series from Samsung is popular for its metal body design and with the launch of Galaxy A3 and A5 Samsung added two new devices in its metallic phones portfolio. Both these phones have sports a unibody design and their thickness stands at 6.7 mm and 6.9 mm for Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3 severally.
The Galaxy E5, and E7 phones have a regular plastic body for which the Samsung Galaxy series is popular for. The E5 and E7 are both 7.3 mm thick and come with rather similar features.
Please note that the Galaxy A3, A5, E5, E7 all have a 5 MP wide-angle front selfie camera and boast Samsung’s own Super AMOLED HD displays with the exception of Galaxy A3 having a qHD display. These phones run on Android KitKat 4.4 out of the box with no information about Android Lollipop upgrade plans. We except Samsung to update them to Android 5.0 Lollipop in near future.
The Galaxy A3, A5, E5, and E7 all run on a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor having 1 GB, 2 GB, 1.5 GB and 2 GB RAM respectively. Each phone has 16 GB ROM and support micro SD cards up to 64 GB. These Galaxy smartphones also support the popular Samsung’s in-house features like Ultra Power Saving Mode, Multi screen, Private mode, etc.

The Price tag
The only thing that I would like to highlight for these newly launched Samsung Galaxy smartphones is their price tag. If you were expecting Samsung to launch good looking phones for cheap then you are in for a surprise. Samsung has given a thought to what Indian consumers were demanding and said, “Nada”.
The cheapest of these phones is the Galaxy E5 costing Rs. 19,300. Galaxy E7 costs Rs. 23,000 while the Galaxy A5 and A3 bear a price tag of Rs. 25,500 and 20,500 respectively.
I don’t understand the reason behind these exorbitant price tags but if you are looking for a really good phone in the same price segment then nothing beats a OnePlus One.
