Xiaomi Mi4 64 GB is one of the most anticipated phones of India for Q1 2015. The Chinese start-up Xiaomi announced the launch of Mi4 in India in January 2015 and put the 16 GB version of Mi4 on sale at 10 Feb, 2015. While the phone attracted a lot of interested buyers and created waves in the market it failed to impress the power users due to its limited storage capacity of just 16 GB.
In a recent update, OnePlus One has also launched its 16 GB Silk White variant of OnePlus One in India. As expected, the phone bears a lower price tag than the Mi4, costs Rs. 18,999 only and will go on sale tomorrow on Amazon.in. This is in line with OnePlus’s tradition of making its phones available for flash sales on Tuesdays. The phone has the same hardware as its 64 GB version but with lower ROM fixed at 16 GB.
If you ask me then I would not advice any power user to shell out Rs. 19k- 20k for a phone lacking support for expandable memory via microSD card and having its internal ROM fixed at a meagre 16 GB. It just doesn’t make sense to me. If you wanted to buy a value-for-money phone with a great hardware at an impressive price tag and you come across the Mi4 16 GB then the only factor deciding your purchasing decision could be its internal memory.
So if you skipped on buying the Mi4 just because it doesn’t sufficient for your usage then you should get ready to purchase the Mi4 64 GB tomorrow i.e. 24 Feb 2015 on flipkart.com. The Mi4 64 GB priced at Rs. 23,999 costs Rs. 4,000 more than its 16 GB counterpart and offers the same hardware and features.
The OnePlus One 64 GB on the other hand costs Rs. 21,999 for almost similar hardware internals like Snapdragon 801 2.5 GHz quad-core processor, 3 GB RAM, full HD display (5.5” for OPO and 5” for Mi4) and 3080 / 3100 mAh Li-Po non-removable batteries (for Mi4 & OPO respectively).
The OnePlus One has a larger 5.5 inch display while the Mi4 only has a 5 inch display. But the display on the Mi4 shows more punchy colors than that on the OnePlus One. Mi4 also has an 8MP front camera while the One has a 5MP front camera. The Mi4 runs on Android KitKat with MIUI 6 on top whereas the OnePlus One runs on CM11S OS for now. Both the phones are slated to receive the Android Lollipop upgrade at some point in near future.
Other than these difference there is not much to decide among these two phones.
So in the end, it all comes down to 2 main factors- A larger display vs. a smaller display with more punchy colors, and the difference of Rs. 2,000 in their price tags. The choice between the two merely depends on the personal requirements and usage patterns so we recommend that you choose wisely.
