88% of the smartphones were Smoked by Windows Phone

Remember the SmokedByWindows challenge thrown by Windows Phone blog? Looks like both the challenge and the Windows phone are a raging success. A total of 34 people participated in the contest, of which Windows phone won on 30 occasions, lost on 3 occasions and settled for a draw with 1 phone.

Mind you the win/loss is for the respective activities. For example, the least amount of time it takes to tweet or the least amount of time it takes to take a picture. That means a phone can be good at all the things but could fall behind in sending a tweet.

Windows Phone has beat all the popular smartphones out there : iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, Galaxy Nexus, ATT Skyrocket, Droid Charge, Droid Bionic, various BlackBerries, Palm Pre Plus. (Via)

Windows Phone lost to iPhone 4s in posting a picture on Twitter, Droid Bionic in sending a text message and to Galaxy Nexus in posting a picture to Twitter. Not bad for a fresh OS looking for a foothold in the Android dominated iOS world.

A side note: Windows Phone OS offers a surprisingly refreshing take to the mobile operating system. In many ways it is better than iOS interface. The tiles are just what anyone need and the response is extremely fast. Needless to say Android UI doesn’t even hold a candle to Window Mango interface.

If you are in the market for a smartphone, give Windows Phones – Nokia Lumia 710, Nokia Lumia 800 – a chance. I can assure you that it will give you a much better experience than an Android phone.
