Micromax has come with some of the most interesting products. More than the products it is their ads which are even more interesting. Micromax Van Gogh is the latest product which has a Bluetooth headset tucked in to the phone. The phone looks like a perfect unibody design but in reality it isn’t. The grove on the phone is for the Bluetooth to dock.
How do you sell a phone which is this unique? By coming up with an uniquely insane advertisement, of course. Akshay Kumar features for less than 10 seconds in this 40 second ad acting as a dentist setting the mobile laden people free in a tooth clinic with just a slap. The patient ends up with a Bluetooth headset in his right ear after Dr. Akshay’s uncanny slap. All of this in a bid to join the hands free revolution with Micromax Van Gogh.
Have you seen the ‘Blue tooth’ in Akshay’s smile? Now that’s one sticky idea. I wonder why no one has done it before.
By looking at the ad, I can tell you this. There are no half measures in this ad. There will be two sections of people – One who love the ad, and the other who abhor it. That’s exactly how you can sell a product. Mediocre ads fetch mediocre results. This ad is either brilliantly stupid or brilliantly brilliant. Either way, it’s brilliant. Micromax has achieved whatever it has set out to achieve. Now more people are talking about the ad than the phone.
As for me, I liked it profusely. What do you think of the ad?
