Tata DoCoMo will launch HTC ChaCha today in Mumbai as per OnlyGizmos and BGR India. HTC ChaCha is a QWERTY phone which features a special hardware button for Facebook.
HTC ChaCha has 2.6 inch capacitive display with 480×320 resolution, 5 megapixel camera and it runs on a 800 MHz processor. DoCoMo will 3GB free data plan and will also throw in 3 hours of its mobile TV service. ChaCha runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
How relevant is this so-called facebook phone? I have my reservations about providing a hardware button and calling it a so-and-so phone. It all started with HTC and Facebook of course. We have rumors that Google will make its next Nexus phone a Google+ phone. Given Angry Birds popularity, I’m sure Rovio is already thinking about an Angry Birds phone.
HTC has this to say about ChaCha : One Touch to Facebook. What’s wrong with two more touches to Facebook? I’m sure the status messages and cat pictures can wait. Besides all the cats are on Google+ now. Aren’t they?
