India is getting gadget hungry and no one is appreciating this more than Samsung. From being a Nokia nation, India is quickly turning into a Samsung nation. eBay has released its Gadget Battle rankings and Samsung is a top choice across a range of products. Samsung holds a 31% share on eBay’s list. That is across mobile phones, televisions, cameras and laptops.

Top Mobile Brand
As you see, Samsung has dominated 6 of the nine categories retaining the top mobile phone model, top value phone model and top smartphone model. It’s as if Samsung has let Micromax and Nokia have the Dual SIM category. Samsung itself has dual SIM phones in its Duos category and they are doing well for themselves.
Smartphones
Smartphones is a category dominated by Samsung with 35% of the share on eBay. Samsung is followed by Blackberry and Sony who were both tied at second position. Together (Samsung+Sony+Blackberry) command a 87% market share. While Delhi is a top smartphone city, non-metros Indore and Hissar made it to the top smartphone cities list.
Samsung Galaxy Note, a hybrid model, is the top smartphone model on eBay. Having looked at people with Galaxy Note myself, I am surprised by Galaxy Note’s success. May be there is market for these hybrid phones.
Value phones
Samsung Galaxy Y is the best value for money phone. There is no question about that. But how popular is it? On eBay, 40% of phones in value phone category are Samsung Galaxy Y. That is an incredible feat. We have predicted Samsung Galaxy Y’s success in January.
Here are some interesting statistics which happen on eBay:
- A mobile phone is sold every 3 minutes
- A laptop is sold every 13 minutes
- A digital camera every 25 minutes
We will be discussing laptops, netbooks and tablets in the next post.
PS : The report covers January 2012 to March 2012 sales.
