Ola and OnePlus announced a first-of-its-kind partnership in India, through which users can buy the OnePlus X from the Ola app. The invite, which had been mandatory to buy the phone, is not a mandate on the Ola app, coming in as a great slice of news to the ones who are looking forward to buying this one.
Though the deal will be available for just for a day in 7 major cities, the fun part is the 15 minute delivery. Quick delivery promises have always thrilled people, and has gained some free pizzas. From pizzas to cellphones, times have taken a leap. The 7 cities which the Ola users will be able to order phones in are: Delhi/NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
Ola will have the app modified for just that day with a button. We believe it couldn’t have been able to make things more easier than this. Between 10AM and 7PM, one can open their Ola app and order a phone, in the same way as they would book a cab, by clicking on the ‘ONEPLUSX’ category icon. And since you’ve ordered it on Ola, none other than an Ola cab would deliver it to you along with a representative from OnePlus, with the smartphone. Payment options aren’t many, one could only pay through cash or credit/debit cards. It would have been more interesting to even having had an option to pay through any of the e-wallets.
Here are some of the specifications of OnePlus X:
- 5-inch AMOLED display
- Resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels
- Powered by Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.3 GHz
- 3 GB RAM
- Internal storage of 16GB can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card.
- 13MP rear camera
- 8MP front facing camera
- Dual SIM
- 2525mAh battery
- It will run Oxygen OS based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop
Sudarshan Gangrade, Vice-President Marketing at Ola said, “We continue to deliver unique experiences to delight our consumers by giving users a chance to buy a smartphone on-demand, straight from the Ola app and get it delivered at their doorstep within minutes. This is a testament to the on-demand nature of the mobility solutions, that the Ola platform offers and takes user engagement to an all-new level! We are thrilled to announce this partnership and take great pride in bringing this exclusive access to all Ola users.”
Announcing this unique initiative, Karan Sarin, Head of Marketing India, OnePlus said, “The enthusiasm from our fans and consumers at large around the country to get our newest smartphone, the OnePlus X, has been unprecedented. People love our products and we are enhancing the experience by making it even more convenient for our fans to get their hands on the OnePlus phone now. In an industry-first partnership with Ola and Amazon.in, we are taking a step towards engaging with consumers wherein they can purchase the OnePlus X phone in three easy steps – Book. Purchase. Delivered. All from the comfort of their Ola app.”
On the Make in India lines, the phone will be the first to start its production in Hyderabad. We hope many others follow suit so that the consumers don’t have to shell excise duties from their own pockets, directly or indirectly. Indian economy will hopefully come out stronger with such initiatives.

Your Invite has fooled yourself. Now we don’t your phone nor your invite. Coz better phones within our budget is avialable. Now you put your phones in your own pockets without invites. OK….This is bloody lesson you should/will have to learn in this world of Electronics. Your phone ONE PLUS will be hated through out the world forever now.
