Gaana.com, a popular Indian music streaming site, has gone with HTML 5 for iPad. As per Digital Inspiration, the site doesn’t yet work on Android tablets but works on iPad only. Instead of releasing an app for each OS platform, going with HTML 5 is almost always the best option if the browsers support the features. It saves a lot of development effort and saves the publisher from dealing with the mess of fragmentation.
HTML 5 is slowly but surely gaining traction. It hasn’t reached the gold rush proportion just yet, but it is definitely getting warmer. Gaana.com joins our growing list (Adobe, Financial Times) of HTML 5 fans who ditched the individual app versions to come up with one web app.
