A Pune-based startup, Optinno Mobitech, has come up with a very useful app – smsBloicker. It does what it says. It blocks 95% of spam text messages based on the content, send, language and pattern of the message.
smsBlocker has a Daily Block Counter feature on the phone home screen which will 
show how many spam messages are blocked that particular day. There is a custom-defined block list to filter messages based on the content and the sender. A block list or allow list can be used to increase tighten the security. smsBlocker is an award winning app by Forum Nokia and Nasscom and is seen as a must-have app.
With the increased sms marketing and more and more people selling their databases, the sms spam will only increase. You might have subscribed to a Do Not Call registry but some messages still get through. After Email, SMS is an all pervasive communication which has to be controlled.
smsBlocker is a must-have app which is available on Nokia Ovi Stores and will run on select Nokia phones. The app has a low footprint of 100kb. The app is also available on Aircel Pocket app store. 24,000 downloads were clocked for the app since its launch in July 2010. The app is available for free on the Nokia Ovi store. An Android version of smsBlocker is on its way.
