Apple and Microsoft go long way back. Both of them define what we call as computing – computers, smartphones and everything in between. While Microsoft still holds a tight grip on the desktop OS market, Apple rules the mobile operating system. Though Microsoft and Apple share the same beginnings in the desktop PC market, it is Apple which seized the opportunity which Microsoft has inconveniently ignored. Computing is more than computers and Apple realized it just in time. Mid-2004 is the defining moment in Microsoft-Apple duel.
Since 2005, Apple has seen a meteoric rise in its stock value. Apple’s stock is at a level which Microsoft can only dream to be at. What was the triggering moment? Since then Apple continued to release its revolutionary products like iPhone and iPad, for which Microsoft has absolutely no answer. [via BGR]
