Sony Xperia S, the smartphone with a 12 MP camera, is now available in India for Rs. 32549. The phone is available online ahead of its India launch on usual suspects – Flipkart and Letsbuy. The phone will be shipping in the second week of April only.
For the spec curious, Sony Xperia S is loaded with Android 2.3, 12 MP camera, 1.3 MP front-facing camera, 4.3 inch TFT capacitive touch screen, 1.5 GHz Dual core Scorpion processor and supports full HD recording.
Sony Xperia S supports 32 GB memory and is loaded with 1 GB RAM and a Adreno 220 Graphics processor. Its 12 MP camera supports 16x digital zoom.
Smartphones are getting expensive by the day. Few months back almost all the high-end phones were launched in a sub-30K price range with the sole exception of iPhone. HTC Sensation has changed the trend and we are seeing more and more phones in the 30K-40K price range. Of course we can be naive and expect a price cut.
Given how things have been, a price cut within a month of a phone’s launch wouldn’t be all that naive.
Of course Xperia S has a 12 MP camera to justify the price tag. All other smartphones have stopped at 8 MP. Xperia S is probably the second noteworthy phone with a 12 MP camera after Nokia N8.
Also notice the name without Ericsson – Sony Xperia S – much simpler.
