Nokia E7 – Touch screen + QWERTY gets its India entry and a steep price. E7 which has the front-panel chopped from N8 and the QWERTY keypad revamped from its earlier models, costs Rs.35019. The priciest Nokia phone available out in the market. Nokia is not really known for its steep prices but E7 looks like an exception.
Nokia E7 is walking a tight rope here where it has to compete with a phalanx of Android phones and beefed up list of QWERTY phones. Is it the 8 megapixel camera? Or is the QWERTY keypad? The processor isn’t terribly fast and it sure doesn’t have a great RAM on-board. What justifies E7 cost is beyond me.
Specifications
Weighing just 176 grams, Nokia E7 can easily be confused for Nokia N8. E7 is as thin as N8 with an added advantage of 42 key keyboard sliding out. The keyboard layout is one of the noteworthy features. Its keys follow somewhat the isolation keyboard pattern seen in laptops. Quite an impressive keyboard and well suite for QWERTY aficionados. If it follows N8 quality, E7’s 8 megapixel camera with LED flash could easily replace your digital still camera. E7 comes with a front-facing VGA camera and HD video recordings of 720p are possible.
Nokia E7’s screen is a large 4-inch clearback AMOLED screen with 360×640 pixels. E7 runs Symbian^3 OS, ARM 11 680 MHz processor, 3D Graphics HW accelerator, 16 GB storage, 256 MB RAM and 1GB ROM. E7 has an in-built FM Radio. Nokia E7 has all the connectivity options of 3G, Bluetooth, WiFi, A-GPS and HDMI. E7 comes in traditional N8 colors of dark grey, silver-white, blue, green and orange. Nokia E7 joins our growing army of touchscreen+QWERTY phones. Nokia E7 has a built-in VPN.
