iPhone 5 is a dual-mode (GSM+CDMA) phone

iPhone 5 will be a world phone. The phone will be equipped to run on both GSM and CDMA networks. TechCrunch reports that a developer has approached with solid evidence that iPhone 5 supports dual SIM mode.

iPhone 5 will be a 3G dual SIM phone but not what we have been seeing.

1 in 4 mobile subscribers in India are CDMA subscribers. When it comes to smartphones CDMA subscribers are hard pressed for choices. There was a rumor that Reliance and Tata will bring the CDMA iPhone to India. While nothing ever is a rumor in the tech world, may be that rumor was spilled too early. May be they were referring to a CDMA+GSM world phone. Any which way, iPhone will now have greater support in India.

Of all the rumors surrounding iPhone 5, this is probably the rumor which makes the most sense. Apple is reportedly in talks with China Telecom for the launch of iPhone 5. Also Apple can’t ignore Asian markets for very long, thanks to Android.
