Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray is the latest Android phone from the Sony Ericsson stable sporting 3.3 inch screen, Reality Display with Mobile Bravia engine, Android 2.3 operating system, 8.1 megapixel camera with Exmor R and HD video functionality.
Xperia Ray’s camera and screen are the two distinct features which make it stand apart. Xperia Ray has 8.1 megapixel camera with Exmor R – the technology which makes taking pictures in low light a breeze. All the camera needs is a candle light. Reality Display on Xperia Ray provides greater screen resolution.
Xperia Ray is available in four colors – Black, Gold, White and Pink. It also has a VGA front-facing camera. GPS, 3.5 mm audio jack, USB tethering and WiFi Hostpot are on board. Xperia Ray has a 1500mAh battery and comes with 4GB microSD card.
Strange thing about Sony Ercisson’s new line of phones is their amazingly small screen (when compared with the spate of 4 inch screen phones) and one gigahertz processor. Strange because the whole smartphone makers are gung ho about the dual core processors and 4+inch screens. Samsung, HTC and LG have released their dual-core super phones.
Sony Ericsson launched Xperia Active at the same time and it is a niche phone targeted for outdoors. Xperia Ray doesn’t look like it has enough firepower to handle the current competition. [SE]
