Cloud based, Android powered, Huawei Vision in India by December

Huawei Vision is a Android 2.3 powered phone from Huawei. It will come to India by December as per TheMobileIndian. Huawei Vision has a 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, Bluetooth and WiFi. Vision comes with a 3D interface and is tightly integrated with cloud.

Huawei did not divulge more details on the cloud integration but, from the PR, Vision would hardly need any space for the apps as the apps will be using the data on the cloud. Yes we have seen this from Apple. iOS5 is a predominantly cloud integrated OS which will come out later this year. Huawei Vision will probably take Apple iOS5’s route for its cloud integration. Exciting as it may sound, we need to see if Huawei Vision’s vision is practical.

Is India ready for a cloud based phone?

Simple answer is No. India isn’t ready for cloud based phones. Not that India doesn’t like cloud based stuff but it isn’t yet practical in India. Though there are 12 million 3G subscribers, 3G service is still spotty. The speeds range from 10 kbps to 4 mbps with no degree of certainty. A phone which has all its apps run from the cloud or access some part of the data from the cloud make a basic assumption of continuous connectivity. That would be a wrong assumption in general and more so in India. If Huawei makes sure that the apps will run on a bare minimum of bandwidth then the Vision will meet with success. If not, Huawei Vision would be yet another Android phone.
