Mobile devices of all kinds have increased our mobility. If hunching out on a computer and typing away on the keyboard brings in repetitive stress injury (RSI), our beloved mobile devices bring in a host of health problems.
Just like any other screen, mobile screen is dangerous too. Looking at it for longer periods will cause dry eyes, headaches, blurry vision and eventual nearsightedness. Mobile phone speakers can cause Tinnitus and the radiation can increase the risk of cancer.
Using an earphone is always a good idea and avoiding direct contact with the cellphones is highly recommended.
This infographic provides more details and remedies.
There was a talk about publishing radiation levels of the mobile devices, just like the manufacturers do for other specifications like Super LCD screens and dual core processors. Not sure whatever happened to that.
The radiation levels should be clearly published and made part of the specification sheet so that users can compare, weigh in and bring that as one of the decision criteria.
Few months ago I have written a post about how many other devices has your mobile replaced? Alarm was one such device. Though I might never go back on other devices like watch, music player, radio, and camera, I intend to go back on the alarm clock. The phone will not come near my pillow. I would go back to old school and will ‘invest’ in an alarm clock.
How about you? What changes would you make to your mobile lifestyle?
