Nokia 500, could be Nokia’s most affordable smartphone till date. It might as well be the most value for money smartphone that is available in the smartphone circuit today. That includes Apple, Blackbery and Android worlds too. Nokia 500 is Symbian Anna powered smartphone running 1 GHz processor and has a 5 megapixel camera. Best part is Nokia 500’s price. It is priced at 150 euros before taxes and other things, which translates to Rs. 10000. Now that’s tantalizingly close to my liking.
Nokia 500 runs on a 1 GH processor, has 5 megapixel camera, WiFi, Bluetooth and 3.5G. Nokia 500 has a 3.2 inch TFT display capacitive touch screen with 640×360 screen resolution. It comes with 2 GB internal memory which can be expandable to 32 GB. Nokia 500 is powered by free Nokia maps and navigation. Nokia 500 comes pre-loaded with email, maps and social networking apps. In additon, it can connect and get a boat full of apps from Nokia Ovi store.
Nokia 500 measures measures 111.3 x 53.8 x 14.1mm and weighs just 93g.The battery on Nokia 500 lasts for up to 7 hours of talk time, 450 hours of standby time or 35 hours of music. Nokia 500 will come in black and white with three customizable back covers in purple, azure blue, pink, coral red, orange and dark silver
Comparison becomes inevitable and Nokia 500 is a much better phone than iPhone 3G S which is selling for around Rs. 20K in India. Of course, iPhone might beat every smartphone in apps and experience but that is something which I can do away with for a phone which costs at least 10K less.
Would you buy Nokia 500?
PS : Nokia 500 shouldn’t be confused with Nokia N500. Starting with Nokia 500, Nokia has changed the naming convention and all future phones will come with just numbers. No alphabets.
