LG Optimus Pro in India for Rs. 9990. Running for hottest Android phone crown.

LG Optimus Pro which was announced in July has surfaced for pre-order on Flipkart. LG Optimus Pro is priced at Rs. 9990 and is expected to ship in the third week of September. 3G enabled Optimus Pro is powered by Android 2.3 and comes with a 2.8 capacitive touch screen and a full QWERTY keypad.

LG Optimus Pro is LG’s cheapest Android phone yet.

Specifications

LG Optimus Pro sports a 2.8 inch QVGA capacitive touch screen with 240×320 screen resolution. It is powered by 800 MHz processor and 256 MB RAM. While there is no rear camera, Optimus Pro comes with a 3.15 MP camera. 1500 mAh battery on Optimus Pro looks like a good fit though talk time and standby details are hard to come by.

Connectivity : WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G are on board.

LG Optimus Pro comes with FM Radio and the memory on the phone can be expandable up to 32 GB.

What we think?

LG Optimus Pro is quite uniquely positioned both in the Android segment and the sub-10K price segment. With this phone, LG has broken the 10K price barrier for its Android army. LG has also broken the touch+QWERTY price barrier. Optimus Pro happens to be the only phone with touch screen and QWERTY keyboard in the sub-10K range. LG Optimus Pro is also the first phone which is powered by Android 2.3 in the sub-10K range. Lots of firsts going on for LG Optimus Pro.

Why LG Optimus Pro will be a hot phone?

• LG’s strong brand recall. Indians still prefer foreign brands and the fact that it is competing with the likes of Spice Mi 310, Micromax A70, and Karbonn A1 is an advantage for Optimus Pro
• Blackberry appeal : With the QWERTY on Optimus Pro, the phone would suddenly be a favorite for business folks. It got the potential to chip away some of the Blackberry crowd.
• Android 2.3 : LG Optimus Pro is the cheapest Android 2.3 powered phone in the circuit. Though what’s inside 2.3 is something only a few are interested, when someone buys a phone, they make sure they get the latest and greatest.
• Price : Of course. Many a manufacturers have gone wrong with the price and a few have gone right with the price. LG for a change is in the category of launching a product with right price. At least with Optimus Pro.
