Will Samsung Galaxy Note be another Dell Streak?

When Dell introduced Dell Streak with a 5.3 inch screen, there was a luke warm response. No sales figures were out but there were hardly any buyers. Now it is easy to dismiss Samsung Galaxy Note as another Dell Streak in the making but something tells me that Samsung Galaxy Note is different.

First the obvious fact that it is coming from Samsung and not Dell, which obviously has proven its smartphone expertise. Samsung is also clever in its marketing about positioning Galaxy Note as just a smartphone which can help you make paperless. Dell haven’t gone through any similar exercise and was just counting on early adopters to flock the stores, which never happened.

Second, when Dell Streak was released the world is still coming into grips with both smartphones and Android. Dell Streak is ahead of its time. Samsung Galaxy Note may be the right device being launched at the right time. As more and more people are looking phones with larger screens and also tablets, Galaxy Note might hit a sweet spot with some early adopters.

If Samsung Galaxy Note can replace the need for two devices, then people will look to buy it even if it’s a tad big to hold.
