Tata DoCoMo became the first private player to launch 3G services in India, leaving behind Bharti Airtel. This should not come as a surprise because of NTT DoCoMo’s pioneering 3G efforts elsewhere in the world and the lack of the same expertise with other operators.
DoCoMo which has been walking a tight rope with the pricing has offered a 7-day free offer to its existing 2G customers. Now is the time to get beyond the existing customer and probably poach some of the other telcos subscribers. The best way to do that is through advertising. DoCoMo which has used exclusive locales and musical themes for its past ads did not deviate from its core theme.

The message of the ad is : Get everything in an instant. The depiction is very subtle and is left to viewers discretion. If we take off the text then the ad could be easily confused for any of the girl stuff. The only saving grace for the ad is the last part of finding needle in a haystack – search and find anything in 0.5 seconds. Most of the ad should have been in the same fashion. May be it’s just me.
